The development of water mist has a viable and in many aspects an enhancement on conventional sprinklers has necessitated the need for a reliable and stringent test standards to ensure the inclusion of  water mist to any application or risk is supported by individual data, setting out system design highlighting nozzle flow rates, spacing’s and height limitations, heat reduction of the system and so on and so forth.

PREMIER MIST SET NEW STANDARDS IN COMMERCIAL FIRE TESTING

Premier Mist in conjunction with the BRE, London Fire Service and Kier Group has recently undertaken a 8489 Part 7 Cat C fire test to the BS standard test protocol. This was of considerable significance given that the same was subjected to substantial forced ventilation during system discharge.

All parties in attendance were highly satisfied by the performance of the system which way exceeded the acceptance criteria as required under the current commercial test protocol, invariably setting new boundaries in the testing of wet suppression systems.

Peter Duval, Premier Mist's Managing Director was delighted with the test outcome and stated that “this has further demonstrated our position of market leaders in the development of highly effective and efficient water mist systems for both residential and commercial applications, emphasising further the effectiveness of DualMIST™.

The standard presently makes no provision for wind/air movement during system testing, therefore we agreed to enhance the test by challenging our system with significant forced ventilation at 2.5m per second air flow, I wish to thank BRE GLOBAL for their continued support and for the representatives for Kier Group for attending the test and presentation of DualMIST™”.  The fire test was further attended by Nick Ketteridge technical director and Adrian Tolson Projects director.

PREMIER MIST LEAD THE WAY IN STANDALONE PERSONAL PROTECTION

Premier Mist is proud to announce the launch of “FIRE GUARDIAN™”, the only standalone unit that has undertaken and passed recognised industry fire test protocol.

The Fire Guardian™ has been designed and developed to afford fire protection to the most vulnerable and has recently undertaken stringent fire testing at the Building Research Establishment (BRE GLOBAL) in Watford, the said testing was developed by BRE in conjunction with the ministry of justice for prison cell fires, taking cognisance of deliberate ignition, high fire loading and fast developing fires.

The principal criteria is to prove a maintainable and tenable atmosphere during discharge thus preserving life and property. The fire testing of Fire Guardian™ was highly successful and attendees from Kent and Tyne and Wear were most impressed by the test and moreover the performance of the Fire Guardian.

Peter Duval Premier Mist's managing director was present during the testing and acclaimed that “this product has huge potential, its performance was unbelievable the quick response using smoke detection to activate the system is very impressive, I would like to thank our development team lead by Nick for this excellent product”.

Nick Ketteridge Premier Mist's technical director was highly satisfied by the testing and stated “I am aware that competitors, offering standalone protection have undertaken some simplified fire scenarios utilising newspaper and a mattress with a very low fuel loading creating a slow smouldering fire that in essence is easy to control  and/or suppress, almost self-extinguishing.  We have complete faith in this product and believe that fire products should be adequately challenged and tested prior to installation”.

Nick proceeded to explain “that the unique positioning of the Fire Guardian™
in a room elevates any blind spots, this combined with the highly effective DualMIST™ nozzle the product is well advanced to that offered by competitors”
